Hardscape, Masonry & Irrigation at a Coastal Oak Bluffs Estate

This Oak Bluffs property — a cedar-shingled estate within close reach of the island's north shore — required LandMasters to deliver a complete outdoor transformation: from initial site clearing and excavation through to a finished bluestone pool surround, structural fieldstone masonry, and a fully integrated irrigation system.

The scope demanded precise sequencing — earthwork first, then the masonry retaining structure, the pool deck in bluestone, and finally the irrigation infrastructure buried beneath it all before the finished landscape could be established.

The Scope of Work

The Oak Bluffs project began with a complete site clearing and excavation around an existing cedar-shingled residence — a delicate operation requiring care to protect mature trees and the existing structure while moving significant volumes of material to establish the finished grades.

The centrepiece is the bluestone pool surround — a generous deck in natural grey bluestone that frames the rectangular pool and connects to the covered porch. The stone was selected for its colour affinity with the grey-shingled siding and laid to precise tolerances for drainage.

The L-shaped fieldstone retaining wall that defines the lower edge of the pool terrace was built from hand-selected natural stone, dry-stacked with the attention to coursing that distinguishes our masonry — built to perform across decades of coastal conditions.
